Now that summer is over, this newsletter includes reminders and a wide selection of activities in digital and experimental humanities, both in Sweden and internationally via DARIAH-SE. On 12–13 November, 2025, Huminfra is organising its second conference with the aim to showcase the variety of infrastructural tools, resources and initiatives aimed at supporting digital and experimental research in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law as well as offer opportunities to greet old friends and research pals and find new ones. The conference will be held at Stockholm University main campus (Frescati). We invite submissions that cover any aspect of research infrastructure components for digital or experimental human science such as digital humanities, experimental humanities; computational social sciences or legal research, etc. Read more about topics of interest, types of contributions, and other practical info on the Conference webpage. Your input will guide the future development of Huminfra and DARIAH Sweden (DARIAH-SE), ensuring these infrastructures provide the most relevant support for researchers. Find the survey here | Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme to Lund in Data Science of Human Multimodal Communication (MULTICOM) | | | | The European Commission has granted funding for a new International Joint Master’s Programme entitled Data Science of Human Multimodal Communication (MULTICOM) over 6 years. The programme is led by the universities of Murcia, Lund and Erlangen-Nürnberg, and also has industrial and academic partners. The programme aims to train students to analyse complex human communication—speech, gestures, gaze, facial expressions, etc.—using cutting-edge data science tools combined with theories of language, cognition, and culture. The Centre for Languages and Literature hosts the MA programme in Lund but the Lund University Humanities Lab's resources will play a key role in this development. The network includes representatives from Stockholm University, RISE, AI Sweden, and the University of Gothenburg. The topic of this year’s event was The Past. Hosted at Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen), this event brought together 270 researchers, academics, archaeologists and more from the DARIAH community and beyond in a vibrant and lively setting to network and exchange. | Francesco Gelati is appointed Chair of the Transformations Scientific CommitteeFrancesco Gelati has been recently appointed Chair of the Scientific Committee of Transformations: A DARIAH Journal. Transformations is a multilingual journal created in 2024 by DARIAH ERIC, dedicated to providing a trusted, non-commercial platform for documenting various methodological and research activities in arts and humanities, including data gathering and processing, annotation and modeling, analysis and interpretation. | Iceland joins DARIAH as full member!The General Assembly of the DARIAH ERIC recently voted unanimously to accept Iceland’s application for full membership in the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities. “We value the unique perspectives and expertise that the Icelandic Digital Humanities communities bring, and really look forward to our collaboration" said Dr. Agiatis Benardou, President of the DARIAH Board of Directors.
